General Computer Use Rules

All users must have a SAILS library card in good standing in order to be registered for computer and Internet use privileges.

Patrons will be required to read and sign the computer policies. For children under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must read and sign the computer policy.

Children 13 years old  and under must be accompanied at the computer station by a parent, guardian, or adult family member .

Reservations are strongly suggested and can be done by calling the reference department.  The reservation system  will hold your reservation until 10 minutes past the reserved time.  Your reservation will be lost if you have not checked in within ten minutes of your reservation time.

Sign up is for one computer at one time and use is limited to 1 hour.  Additional sessions are allowed depending upon reservations but total use cannot exceed 2 hours per day total on all stations.

Any software that must be installed in order to be used cannot be used on any library computer without the consent of the Information Technology Librarian.   Private files and documents cannot be saved to the computers and will be deleted.

Pages printed from the computer are 15 ยข for each page printed.  You are responsible for checking on your print project once you press print.  If you do not check your print project and make multiple copies of the same page, you are responsible for these copies.  Failure to pay for any or all pages printed will result in the suspension of computer privileges until payment is made. Repeated refusal to pay for printed pages will result in the suspension of computer privileges.

The Taunton Public Library is not responsible for any data lost as a result of faulty

media programs, etc.  Computer users are responsible for any damage to hardware

and software and may be liable for repairs and replacement costs.

The library staff is available for basic guidance but will not instruct in the use of

specific programs. Problems encountered while using the computer should be reported to library staff  immediately.
