For patrons not interested in obtaining a Taunton Public Library card for the purpose of borrowing books and materials from Taunton and other SAILS libraries but who wish only to use the Internet or personal computers may apply for a temporary computer card. Any special circumstances similar to obtaining a permanent library card will be followed in obtaining a temporary computer card.
Patrons will be required to read and sign the Computer and Internet Use Registration : Acceptable Use Policy for Computers and Internet Policies. This will require filling out a registration form and providing identification.
Once a form is signed, noting these policies have been read and understood, a patron will receive a temporary card and a copy of this signed form.
Patrons under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian read and sign the form. Children in grade 5 and under must be accompanied at the computer station by an adult family member while using the computer/Internet. This adult can be an older sibling in grade 6 to 12 as long as the older sibling has prior written permission by a parent or legal guardian.
Computer card applications will be kept on file for one year. After one year, the patron mush re-register. This care is unique only to the Taunton Public Library and cannot be used at other libraries or in place of a full SAILS card and all that it allows.
Approved by the Taunton Public Library Board of Trustees,12/21/94. Sixth revision August 2007
